Back story
For many years Keith and I have talked about making furniture and we have made a few pieces for our own use, the first reuse/re-purpose was a set of glass sidelights bought for salvage that we used as the sides of a TV cabinet 19 years ago. The 3 of us, Keith, Nate and I fused shards of colored glass to the sidelights by a magic process that involved a black light (thanks to the genius of my son Nate at 13 y.o.) once we ran out of sunlight. They now serve as glass doors between my front hallway and the living room. The second piece, 15 years ago was a headboard we made from 2 mahogany doors we purchased for $8 each in Chattanooga, Tn. then remade, long before anyone else was doing anything like that. We use it still today and its beautiful. I run my hands over it each night to feel the dark polished surface of it before I go to sleep. We've made a tall 8 and 1/2 foot wardrobe for my son, when he was in France, for his new apartment in a 100 year old Victorian because he didn't have any where to hang his clothes. We made this furniture because we love to make useful beautiful things.
Who We Are
Candace White * Primary Designer and the crazy person who haunts the salvage yards and alleys and searches out salvage architectural elements by any means that occurs to her. Same person who wakes up at 6 am and starts sketching a piece she knows will bring together disparate elements and be beautiful.
Keith Miller * Master Carpenter with 20 years experience and brilliant wood worker without whom NONE of this would be possible, he's the one who takes the vision from the page to the actual. Keith and wood speak the same language, sometimes it tells him no I won't do that, so he tells me.
Nate Davis* Brilliant photographer and technical consultant who helps us bring these beautiful pieces into your lives. He takes masterful photos and maintains our website so you can see what we do.
